Our Story
In 1980, after my boss passed on and his wife let me go, I found myself at 28 years old, married with two children living in a two-bedroom flat in Turffontein with just one month’s salary. Two clients called to find out where I was and when they heard my story, they proposed I start my own company—financed by them.
Despite my hesitation, believing only rich people owned companies, I eventually partnered with S. Bacher & Co., agents for Lanco Watch at the time. They took a majority share, and as they say, the rest is history. My deepest gratitude goes to Issy Bacher and Romain Orlin for their unwavering trust and belief in me and, later, to Dion Friedland.
MAKING AN IMPACT
Our proudest achievement is celebrating our 44th anniversary this year. Over more than four decades, we’ve grown to employ over 300 people across our group. This milestone has taught us that while the government represents the biggest risk we face in our country, businesses must develop strategies to navigate and survive political challenges that are beyond their control.
