Our Story
The ANEW Hotels & Resorts story did not start in a hotel lobby; it started on a farm.
The family behind the brand comes from timber and dairy farming, and their first taste of hospitality was a roadhouse motel near Harding in KwaZulu-Natal, run by the family of current CEO Clinton Armour. That roadhouse became the training ground for everything that followed.
The group’s first major move was transforming Ingeli Forest Motel into what is now ANEW Resort Ingeli Forest Kokstad, setting the tone for how ANEW Hotels & Resorts likes to grow: by breathing new life into existing places rather than building from scratch. The name itself carries that same idea, new beginnings, and a refreshed take on what hospitality can feel like.
Since then, ANEW Hotels & Resorts has grown to 19 properties across five of South Africa’s nine provinces.

Africa's Travel Indaba Inspiration Award 2022 & 2023
ANEW Hotels & Resorts, under CEO Clinton Armour, received the Inspiration Award at Africa’s Travel Indaba in both 2022 and 2023. These consecutive wins recognised the group’s sustained growth and resilience through one of the most challenging periods the hospitality industry has faced, the Covid-19 pandemic, during which the portfolio grew, starting at three properties in March 2020 and reaching sixteen properties by May 2023.
Large Green Stand Award, Gold 2024, 2025 & 2026
Separately, ANEW Hotels & Resorts has received Gold three years running, in 2024, 2025, and 2026, in the Large Green Stand Award category at Africa’s Travel Indaba for its sustainable exhibition stand. Our stand, built together with the ExpoGuys, is made up of around 80% recycled materials, rebuilt to the same standard each year the group has entered, with new sustainable variations every time.
Empowerment Award, Meetings Africa 2024
In 2024, Alan Campbell, ANEW’s Talent and Commercial Director, received the Empowerment Award at Meetings Africa, presented by the South Africa National Convention Bureau. The award acknowledges the industry individual or organisation that has made real inroads in empowering others in the industry, through collaboration or the sharing of knowledge.
