A South African Success with Global Ambitions

Skynamo was founded in 2012 in the tech-forward town of Stellebosch, South Africa, and began life under the name Honeybee. The first customer? Vergelegen Wine Estate. The 100th? Another wine icon, Van Loveren Family Vineyards. The product clearly struck a chord with the wine industry—perhaps fitting, given its Stellenbosch roots.

Rebranded in 2018 as Skynamo, the company has since expanded to Johannesburg, Durban, London, and Atlanta, serving nearly 1,000 customers across the globe in sectors such as Food & Beverage, Building Materials & Hardware, Chemicals & Paint, and Automotive goods. Skynamo is also a certified app and partner of leading platforms, including Acumatica, Xero, and Sage.

In 2019, the company achieved ISO 22001:2013 certification, placing it among the few tech firms globally recognised for top-tier information security practices—a massive drawcard for customers handling sensitive sales data.

When Brian Howe landed in the UK with his wife and children in August 2017, there was no corporate entourage, no plush London office, and no backup plan. Just belief. “We sold our house and left South Africa with our kids and our dreams,” he recalls. “Then there was a fire at the storage unit—our belongings never made it onto the boat. We had to start life again from scratch.”

Today, that leap of faith is paying off. Brian is the Chief Revenue Officer for Skynamo in

Europe and the US, and his bold mission to bring this proudly South African software to the world is in full flight.

A Smart Tool for Smarter Sales

Skynamo is a B2B field sales and productivity platform built specifically for manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers with boots on the ground—sales teams who regularly visit customers in the field. Whether it’s a route to market for craft beer or car parts, paint products, or building materials, Skynamo is designed to turn outside sales into a well-oiled machine.

From submitting live orders remotely and automating admin, to capturing customer interactions on mobile devices, Skynamo arms field sales teams with everything they need to sell more—and sell smarter. GPS technology and real-time dashboards give sales managers eyes on the road and in the field, while automatically generated timelines and customer visit histories allow for performance tracking without micromanaging.

“It’s not about tracking people—it’s about removing the clutter so they can sell well,” says Brian. “Salespeople want to sell, not fill out spreadsheets. Skynamo gives them that time back.”


The Move to the UK: From Grit to Growth

Brian joined Skynamo in 2015 as employee number 17, tasked with leading sales in South Africa. But he saw a bigger opportunity. “I love this product

and its people, so I suggested to our CEO that we launch into the UK,” he says. The timing wasn’t quite right, but Brian wouldn’t let it go. “I told him the best person to take Skynamo to the world was already packing his bags.”

After a reconnaissance trip in 2016 showed strong potential, Brian convinced his family to take the plunge. Within three months of arriving, he signed

Skynamo’s first UK customer. Today, the UK and European division boasts more than 160 customers and generates over £1 million in revenue annually.

He shares: “It was incredibly tough at the start. I was getting paid in Rands while living in Pounds. But we kept at it. We’re now profitable—and growing fast.”


The Road Ahead: Powered by Purpose and People

The mission is clear: reach $25 million in recurring revenue by 2028. “We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re not done yet,” Brian says. “We’re always looking for brilliant people to join us—especially in sales, marketing, and development.”

But Skynamo’s growth isn’t just about revenue—it’s about connection. Brian believes in the power of the global South African network to support one another abroad. “Referrals are still our number one source of leads.
