Winning The Away Game – Neil Docking

Opening Doors, Elevating Journeys – The South African Changing Global Travel

When South Africans talk about “making a plan,” they are usually referring to gritty determination and a talent for solving problems creatively – sometimes against the odds. For Neil Docking, Senior Vice President, Head of Global Sales at Dragonpass, that classic Mzansi resilience has powered a journey that now shapes travel experiences for tens of millions of people worldwide. Operating from the UK, this proudly South African executive is helping redefine what seamless global mobility looks like.

From Cape Town to the World

Neil’s story is one of movement – personally and professionally. “I’ve lived all over the world, including the USA, Poland, and the UK over the years,” he says. Yet his relocation to Britain began for deeply personal reasons. “When my son was born, I was offered a role in London working for a company in the lifestyle concierge space. There were various reasons we moved across, including having two of my three sisters in the UK and my parents followed shortly thereafter.”

With dual citizenship and a career already building international traction, the UK offered opportunity, family connection, and a powerful new chapter. It also positioned Neil to join an organisation quietly engineering a revolution in global travel experiences.

Dragonpass: A Global Heavyweight With a South African Edge

Most frequent travellers know the fatigue of long-haul flights – and South Africans, sitting at the southern tip of Africa, feel it more than most. Dragonpass exists to soften those pain points.

Neil oversees “all new business outside of China, South Korea, and Japan,” operating in markets where the company is rapidly expanding. Today, Dragonpass serves an extraordinary 40 million members, offering airport lounges, Fast Track entry, airport spa access, and dining packages – all designed to eliminate the friction of modern travel.

“We have 40 million members using our services and are the global leader in our field,” he explains. “My role is to expand our business. Our product is traditionally offered as a bank account or credit card benefit to cardholders.”

Through Neil’s leadership, Dragonpass has become integral to premium credit cards, wealth portfolios, and loyalty ecosystems around the globe. For South African travellers – often at airports for 20-plus hours – the value is immediate, tangible, and lekker.

“I have worked hard with many clients in South Africa. Our services are already rolled out to the likes of MasterCard and their issuing banks, Visa and their issuing banks, Investec, Capitec, and a few others will be live when this piece is published,” he notes. “We’re offering complicated aggregated services in a simplified way, which ultimately helps ease the pain points of South African travellers.”

Innovation That Never Sleeps

Beyond lounges and travel products, Neil is steering Dragonpass into new frontiers. “We are expanding out into the lifestyle space with new travel services like eSim and premium fitness classes,” he says. The organisation is also investing in what will become a category-defining product: AI-driven concierge services.

“Launching in mid-2026, this will be an industry first. Concierge hasn’t evolved for over 3 decades. This is truly exciting and will bring the power of AI together with trusted suppliers and the buying power of 40 million users.”

For a company that already sits at the intersection of convenience, technology, and global mobility, this next evolution promises to shake up an entire industry.

Designing for Scale, Not Status

What increasingly defines Dragonpass is not luxury, but intent. The platform is built to work quietly in the background – removing friction, simplifying access, and improving experiences without demanding attention. Its value lies in scale, reliability, and relevance, not spectacle.

Across airports, financial institutions, and emerging lifestyle services, Dragonpass operates as connective tissue: aggregating complex services and delivering them in ways that feel effortless to the end user. That approach has allowed the business to grow globally without losing clarity of purpose.

As new services come online and digital concierge evolves, the focus remains the same – practical innovation that improves everyday movement through an increasingly complex world.

Calling All Saffas: The Future Is Collaborative

Neil believes South Africans around the world can meaningfully power Dragonpass’ next phase.

“They can simply help by using our services to make their travel and lifestyle better and less stressful,” he says. “We are democratising services that have traditionally been available only for the high net worth and above.”

He also invites South Africans working with closed-user groups – from banks to member organisations – to collaborate.

“Any South Africans that are responsible for the acquisition and retention of closed user groups can benefit from our services and work with us to make their valued customers have a more enjoyable experience both while travelling and in their home cities, wherever they are in the world.”

The Away Game, Won With Purpose

From Cape Town roots to a global leadership role in the UK, Neil’s story is a reminder of the tenacity, warmth, and world-class excellence that South Africans export wherever they go. Dragonpass isn’t just changing how the world travels – it’s carrying a piece of home with it.

And like any good Saffa knows: it’s not just about the destination. It’s about making the journey better for everyone who follows.
